Recordings keep failing. Sometimes when I record a programme, I get an error message and I lose the recording.
Can anyone help find a solution to my tvonics dtr/z500hd it will not come out of standby displays red and green light but no picture; or sound have tried turning off several times with no success Thanks Rob
Picture keeps stuttering and is blocky and pixellated.

My Freeview box shows the programmes ok but when I try to record it puts up a message saying " Your freeview box failed to initialise. Recording and playback functions are disabled." Is it dead? What can I do? Is it possible to transfer the recorded programmes onto another box/hard drive?
The freeview box comes on fine and shows the current programme but when I try to set it to record a message comes up saying " your hard drive failed to initialise. Recording and playback are disabled." What can I do? If it is dead can I get the recorded programmes transferred onto another box/hard drive?
how to turn off speech description
Hi I cant seem to turn the subtitles off, I have used the AD button on the remote, but it keeps coming back on, turned the box off at the wall and changed the battery in the remote, but nothing seems to work.
My box is stuck on green and red light ,

Hello, this afternoon a friend tried to change channels on my TVONICS DTR HD500 & we managed to lose the connection to the telly! We've switched around HDMI cables & connections but the only way I can get a picture is by using a scart lead - not ideal. Has anyone got any ideas of what he might have pressed on the control to change settings?! We've also tried all engineers resets such as switching everything off & back on again. Please help! Thanks Claire
Cannot record or play back. Unit says these have been disabled. Technician thinks hard drive is at fault but if replaced I would lose all my recordings. Is it possible to access library to download contents to memory stick? TV is year old Samsung Smart TV. Really anxious to save recordings. Could the remote control be faulty? I need to stand close to tv to operate remote (new batteries fitted)
Red/green light on(, press channel red remains on. message reads...'STARTING' Nothing happens. Have tried 2 other power adaptors, one from a fully working similar unit, but no use. Will a replacement hard disc fix it and where could I geet one?

Same problem as Rob. Red and green lights on, press a channel button and the green goes out but red remains. No other signs of life

Solution 1: It can be extremely frustrating when this happens. Most of the time, there isn't much you can do other than turn it off and then on again, at the mains if the power button isn't responding.
However, there are a few things you can check to help prevent it in the future. Number one is check how hot it is. Freezing can happen when the unit isn't properly ventilated or is in a hot place. Make sure all the vents are uncovered and there is nothing on top of it.
You might also want to check for system updates.
Finally, you might consider turning the unit off and then on again regularly to reboot it. Freezing often occurs when it has been running for a long time, so once a week or so you could try to reboot it by switching it off and on. If you don't want to do this yourself, you might consider buying a timer switch to do this for you at a time you know you won't be using the machine, e.g. 4AM.

Solution 1: Recordings fail for a number of reasons. If you schedule the recording and it records - but records the wrong thing - the box might be tuned to two different regions. Reset the channels and manually tune them if you suspect this to be the case.
If the unit is on a series record but has missed the programme, check the programme guide to see if future episodes are being recorded. It may have identified the programme as a different series for some reason, so set a series link on any future episodes that are not being recorded.
Other failed recordings can show a problem with the unit. One or two failed recordings do not necessarily mean that your unit has a fault - it could be due to a power cut or your box could have (unluckily!) frozen or crashed prior to the start of the programme.
However, if there are numerous failed recordings and it continues to occur even though you can watch TV OK, it sounds like a problem with the hard disk and this will need to be either repaired or replaced.

- Hi. I am having exactly the same issue. I unplugged overnight but as soon as I powered up, the same two lights came on. I've read a lot of diagnoses but, given that the unit was working just a few minutes before this issue, I am not convinced it is a power or components problem. How are you now with the problem?

- If your TVonics displays red and green light, the problem is not with hard drive and not with power adaptor. That is a fact. The large PCB is at fault. Anyone know what is faulty on main PCB?

Solution 1: Hi! Have you been able to resolve this issue with the TVonics? If not I gather the problem is on the main PCB. Don't yet know which component is faulty.
