Recordings keep failing. Sometimes when I record a programme, I get an error message and I lose the recording.
Picture keeps stuttering and is blocky and pixellated.
When I try to access the on-screen menus, I often get the message 'There is a problem with the disc, press OK & the machine will reboot. I've used the recorder quite a lot in the 2 years since I bought it & suspecct it's time to replace the HDD. Could I use a normal 160GB FAT32 drive & does the existing drive also contain the operating system. Any advice would be greatly appreciated so thanks in advance.

The first is that all recorded programs are in very low volume and I am using a sound bar.
The tv and sound bar are modern LG products only recorded programs have the low sound despite being recorded in DR mode.
second problem is the unit freezes, it cannot be turned off either with the remote or the on off button on the recorder, to access the main plug means pulling the tv out.
Once this is done it works ok.

The DVD unit rejects all (brand new) blank discs when I try to record a recorded programme from the Hard drive. I've tried cleaning the DVD heads using a number of cleaning discs but to no avail. How can I overcome this problem?
My guide plus screen is showing 'No Data ' so I am not able to record. How can i resolve this ?
when I try to use the guide to choose the programme I want to record nothing appears. I can watch previously recorded programs, but can not delete them as a message comes on screen telling me `cannot edit with ext link'! Anybody any idea what I need to do. I have checked all connections are ok.
I want to record a number of small programs from HDD to a single DVD. Somehow after the first recording the DvD is Automatically Finalised. It then becomes Play back only. What am I doing wrong.

When I go to record a programme I press guide and usually the programmes are listed but for some reason there are now no programmes listed.

Guide for ITV4 shows 'no data' so cannot record programmes. Also, cannot watch ITV4 through hardrive without recording, states 'no service' However can watch it via the TV. Have re-tuned TV but do not how to re-tune HARDRIVE if that is what I should be doing. Anyone help?

Solution 1: It can be extremely frustrating when this happens. Most of the time, there isn't much you can do other than turn it off and then on again, at the mains if the power button isn't responding.
However, there are a few things you can check to help prevent it in the future. Number one is check how hot it is. Freezing can happen when the unit isn't properly ventilated or is in a hot place. Make sure all the vents are uncovered and there is nothing on top of it.
You might also want to check for system updates.
Finally, you might consider turning the unit off and then on again regularly to reboot it. Freezing often occurs when it has been running for a long time, so once a week or so you could try to reboot it by switching it off and on. If you don't want to do this yourself, you might consider buying a timer switch to do this for you at a time you know you won't be using the machine, e.g. 4AM.

Solution 1: Recordings fail for a number of reasons. If you schedule the recording and it records - but records the wrong thing - the box might be tuned to two different regions. Reset the channels and manually tune them if you suspect this to be the case.
If the unit is on a series record but has missed the programme, check the programme guide to see if future episodes are being recorded. It may have identified the programme as a different series for some reason, so set a series link on any future episodes that are not being recorded.
Other failed recordings can show a problem with the unit. One or two failed recordings do not necessarily mean that your unit has a fault - it could be due to a power cut or your box could have (unluckily!) frozen or crashed prior to the start of the programme.
However, if there are numerous failed recordings and it continues to occur even though you can watch TV OK, it sounds like a problem with the hard disk and this will need to be either repaired or replaced.

Solution 1: if you leave the recorder on channel 5 . you will find this stopps the errors . Dont know why but it works for me .
