Picture keeps stuttering and is blocky and pixellated.
The unit has just frozen up. It keeps freezing and then shutting itself down.

Unit froze up twice last week now won't respond to anything even when rebooted.
When turned on the TV recognizes that there is an Hdmi device but just shows a black screen.
The unit shows a green light but no numbers on the channel display, and no buttons on either the remote or on the device have any effect at all.
I'm presuming it's dead but thought I'd just check if there was a hard reset procedure to try.
I need to hard boot my recorder. Is there a button sequence to follow?

Trying to do initial setup, only finds 3 channels, and then theres no audio or visual for any of these 3 channels. The aerial is fine when connected to the TV directly, but when searching for channels with this it keeps saying there is no transmitter, or (once every 4 or 5 times of trying) it finds that we are in the northwest. The whole thing is very frustrating. Checked all connections several times!
after loading freeview picture is shown then freezes.after a few minutes it reloads and contiues to freeze unable to press library or menu. but when i unplug the arial i get the library and the menu. i have tried to reboot, tried to re scan but still reverts back to freezing. i think the fault might not be able to be rectified
The box will not record. Reformatting is enabled, but it wont reformat. Says to ask for technical help. Programmes already recorded will not play. Any ideas please?

When I turn on my Goodmans GD11FSRHD50 box all I get is a 'Rec' text on the screen which then flashes off (No channel listing e.g. 101.)
I called Goodmans support and they said I need to reset the box (By unplugging all leads for 30 minutes then plugging them back in again) After I did this I got the same problem. I think therefore I have a faulty Hard Drive.
As it is now outside of warranty (Over a year old) I don't think there is anything Goodmans can do. Any suggestions anyone?

Solution 1: Recordings fail for a number of reasons. If you schedule the recording and it records - but records the wrong thing - the box might be tuned to two different regions. Reset the channels and manually tune them if you suspect this to be the case.
If the unit is on a series record but has missed the programme, check the programme guide to see if future episodes are being recorded. It may have identified the programme as a different series for some reason, so set a series link on any future episodes that are not being recorded.
Other failed recordings can show a problem with the unit. One or two failed recordings do not necessarily mean that your unit has a fault - it could be due to a power cut or your box could have (unluckily!) frozen or crashed prior to the start of the programme.
However, if there are numerous failed recordings and it continues to occur even though you can watch TV OK, it sounds like a problem with the hard disk and this will need to be either repaired or replaced.

Solution 1: It can be extremely frustrating when this happens. Most of the time, there isn't much you can do other than turn it off and then on again, at the mains if the power button isn't responding.
However, there are a few things you can check to help prevent it in the future. Number one is check how hot it is. Freezing can happen when the unit isn't properly ventilated or is in a hot place. Make sure all the vents are uncovered and there is nothing on top of it.
You might also want to check for system updates.
Finally, you might consider turning the unit off and then on again regularly to reboot it. Freezing often occurs when it has been running for a long time, so once a week or so you could try to reboot it by switching it off and on. If you don't want to do this yourself, you might consider buying a timer switch to do this for you at a time you know you won't be using the machine, e.g. 4AM.
