The unit has just frozen up. It keeps freezing and then shutting itself down.

Recordings keep failing. Sometimes when I record a programme, I get an error message and I lose the recording.

Picture keeps stuttering and is blocky and pixellated.

Humax 1010s
Problem is that it keeps sending a signal to the tv by the scart cable so the tv switches to the scart input.
This happens several times per hour usually 2-3 times at the same time the clock display dissapears.
If connected by hdmi cable the clock display dissapears and then returns in 15-20 seconds time same as on scart.
This happens constantly and Humax have replaced the box and say they no of no fault when the replacement came it did do a software update so wondering if Humax are testing with the latest software update and if this has anything to do with it.
Have tried a different power supply same thing happens.
I do have a sky box and a humax fressat hdr 500 and both these boxes work without problems.
I have therefore had to put the Humax back in the box and put it away hoping a later software update will sort out the problem.
Humax say as they are unaware of the fault and it is happening to the replacement there is nothing else they can do.
I still think it is the box as the other boxes I have work without this annoying problem.
I think the box is trying to start up on its own and this is why the clock display dissapears and then it realises that it is not supposed to be starting up and returns to standby.

Solution 1: It can be extremely frustrating when this happens. Most of the time, there isn't much you can do other than turn it off and then on again, at the mains if the power button isn't responding.

However, there are a few things you can check to help prevent it in the future. Number one is check how hot it is. Freezing can happen when the unit isn't properly ventilated or is in a hot place. Make sure all the vents are uncovered and there is nothing on top of it.
You might also want to check for system updates.
Finally, you might consider turning the unit off and then on again regularly to reboot it. Freezing often occurs when it has been running for a long time, so once a week or so you could try to reboot it by switching it off and on. If you don't want to do this yourself, you might consider buying a timer switch to do this for you at a time you know you won't be using the machine, e.g. 4AM.

Solution 1: Recordings fail for a number of reasons. If you schedule the recording and it records - but records the wrong thing - the box might be tuned to two different regions. Reset the channels and manually tune them if you suspect this to be the case.
If the unit is on a series record but has missed the programme, check the programme guide to see if future episodes are being recorded. It may have identified the programme as a different series for some reason, so set a series link on any future episodes that are not being recorded.

Other failed recordings can show a problem with the unit. One or two failed recordings do not necessarily mean that your unit has a fault - it could be due to a power cut or your box could have (unluckily!) frozen or crashed prior to the start of the programme.

However, if there are numerous failed recordings and it continues to occur even though you can watch TV OK, it sounds like a problem with the hard disk and this will need to be either repaired or replaced.

Solution 1: Appears after all the annoyance that this problem caused it turns out that the Humax HDR 1010s is not faulty it is just paired with the Freesat App.

Pairing it with the Freesat the box is designed to start up partially 3 times per hour to check for updates from Freesat.

Unpairing does not work but unpairing and a factory reset solves the problem.

Allthough it means that the box can no longer be set to record remotely as it is no longer paired.

Humax advised to uninstall the freesat app and the box will no longer check with freesat for any updated information.

Problem: My Humux HDR-1010S froze, so I unplugged it. Now I get absolutely nothing when I apply power. The Ethernet lights are the only sign of life, otherwise no lights/signal etc.
I have 12Volts going in.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Gurka

Problem: I have had my Humax HDR1010S for 12 months. It has always had a tendency to come up with a 'no signal' message every now and again but the box still shows the channel details it was working on before the stoppage. Often the failure is only for 5 seconds but when it happens 10 times an hour it is a bit of a nuisance. In bad weather I expect it but it is now happening in good calm weather. I immediately check the signal strength and it is around 90% with quality 100%. The dish has been moved twice and is now on my chimney stack. I live in BS25 area near Weston super Mare, uk. Any ideas appreciated.
