small light on left lights up, but main circul light dose not !! ie cannot get box on at all ??

how can I get the timeshift function to work. It keeps saying buffer cannot be used whilst retrieving data. This was not the case until recent software updates?

My Humax is just over 2 years old, it frequently now wont allow me to record, and all my previous recordings have disappeared. I have switched it on and off at the mains several times but it still isnt working...help

Machine works well in all respects, except for iplayer. It will not connect. I can see itv player or 4on demand, not iplayer. It was working fine for about a year.

Thanks

Gordon Cooke

Will not let me do disk format keeps freezing

unit not responding to commands from the remote, try setting programme to record but nothing happens so press record button again still nothing happens then after a minute it sometimes jumps forward a couple of stages eg past recording in hd or sd and single episode or series. Got to the stage where I cannot record anything. Its going in the bin if nobody can help and yes have tried turning power off and restarting and have changed batteries in remote several times,

HDR 1010S has lost all recordings and will not let me record anything. I have pulled all leads out and restarted and it's still not working. Has any one had this problem?

HDR 1010S screen goes blank and a message is displayed saying that there is no signal or the signal is too weak.

Periodically, like every hour and a half the screen goes blank and a message is displayed saying that there is no signal or the signal is too weak. I've turned off power saving, which is one cause of this but it is still happening. The unit works OK with just channel 1 connected, but still with the occasional failure. I've tried swapping the cables around but that makes no difference. Single channel operation works OK through the splitter so that's not the problem. I don't see much point in a £250 box that doesn't do what is claimed for it. When the signal is "lost" I can navigate to Settings and Signal Info and the signal level and quality miraculously reappear and are reported as good. There's a design fault somewhere in this box either hardware or software, (What else?). I can't understand why the equipment was designed without a splitter incorporated in it. Having to split the signal externally means having cables all over the place.

Problem: Recordings keep failing. Sometimes when I record a programme, I get an error message and I lose the recording.

Solution 1: Recordings fail for a number of reasons. If you schedule the recording and it records - but records the wrong thing - the box might be tuned to two different regions. Reset the channels and manually tune them if you suspect this to be the case.
If the unit is on a series record but has missed the programme, check the programme guide to see if future episodes are being recorded. It may have identified the programme as a different series for some reason, so set a series link on any future episodes that are not being recorded.

Other failed recordings can show a problem with the unit. One or two failed recordings do not necessarily mean that your unit has a fault - it could be due to a power cut or your box could have (unluckily!) frozen or crashed prior to the start of the programme.

However, if there are numerous failed recordings and it continues to occur even though you can watch TV OK, it sounds like a problem with the hard disk and this will need to be either repaired or replaced.

Problem: The unit has just frozen up. It keeps freezing and then shutting itself down.

There are 0 comments on this problem.

Solution 1: It can be extremely frustrating when this happens. Most of the time, there isn't much you can do other than turn it off and then on again, at the mains if the power button isn't responding.

However, there are a few things you can check to help prevent it in the future. Number one is check how hot it is. Freezing can happen when the unit isn't properly ventilated or is in a hot place. Make sure all the vents are uncovered and there is nothing on top of it.
You might also want to check for system updates.
Finally, you might consider turning the unit off and then on again regularly to reboot it. Freezing often occurs when it has been running for a long time, so once a week or so you could try to reboot it by switching it off and on. If you don't want to do this yourself, you might consider buying a timer switch to do this for you at a time you know you won't be using the machine, e.g. 4AM.

Problem: Although programmes appear in th recorded list, when attempting to playback I just get the error message File Format not supported. This has just started happening in the last week or so. The software is up to date and the box is only 3 months old.

Solution 1: Sorted the problem out myself by just disconnecting unit from the mains, leaving for a few minutes and then reconnecting. All OK now, let's hope it stays that way.
