On my friend's new HumaxHDR-1800T, the pause, record and rewind functions in area 1 of the remote control(Per the user guide) are not functioning. The instructions carry no information on how to make these work. There is no PVR on the remote control either. How are these problems fixed?

when on areorded programe the picture will freeze whenn told to onlive tv it will not why

picture willfreeze on recordings but not on live play

I set the Humax box up fine and everything was working properly. I got a lead to connect the aerial through the box to the TV independent of the HDMI lead. I think now you should be able to watch the TV with the box off via the TV's own freeview system. What's happened is the picture and sound breaks up and is pixilated. Yet if I plug the aerial lead directly into the TV it works perfectly and since I did this the Humax has lost about 25-30% of the channels it just says it's not tuned or the signal is not strong enough. Anybody any ideas?

"Freezing often occurs when it has been running for a long time,"

This doesn't seem a very satisfactory state of affairs. What is "a long time"? Presumably if you programme the unit to record it will switch itself on and off according to when the programmes are to be recorded, so surely it should be able to deal with this without constantly freezing so that your programmes are not recorded in your absence, for instance?

When I wish to view programs I have recorded and press menus no joy have replaced batteries switched machine off on still doesn’t work

Recordings made won’t play when you press menus onremote control Have switched of on / of at mains for box Changed batteries on remote no joy

Help our new Humax 1800T with a brand new sony TV keeps loosing sound the engineer we sent for blamed me for being a button presser which isn't true he reinstalled the box and set everything up again for us and we had sound he then told us to regulate the sound by putting the sound on the Humax setting up to 20 ( where it was very soft) and using the TV handset to get the sound to a level that we could hear this sounded a bit complicated to me but we thought OK problem solved. Then this evening No sound again when we switched to Humax and we hadn't touched any buttons other than to change to Humax to try to record a program. We are both in our 80s and the engineer more or less blamed our age for the problem.we both have all our faculties and found that a bit rude as you can see I can use a computer
Is this a usual problem and can anyone suggest what to do about it ??

When we recording two programmes we go to the TV to watch another programme, but when we return to watching through the box we loose the sound, the only way we have found to get the sound back is to reset factory default settings

Hello,My problem with the Humax is the "New software search "banner which pops up on my tv every night. The option says yes or no to search but if I am in the kitchen listening or cannot find the remote it searches for new software regardless of if I say yes or know ? This happens every night and I have tried in settings to switch off this annoying intrusive pop up but I can find no option in settings to stop this happening every night

Problem: My wife needs subtitles. when we pause recorded programmes for a moment or two we often find subtitles are out of sync. which obviously is very annoying for her. Could this be a fault of the broadcasters or the recorder itself. any advice appreciated. Billyboy

Problem: When my Humax is in Standby mode, I cannot get any TV channels. All connections are correct yet I can only get a TV picture when my Humax is left on. Is it safe to leave it on for hours at a time?

There are 0 comments on this problem.

Solution 1: In order to watch TV through the Humax, Turn off this setting.
Menu
settings
Navigate to system
Select Power management
Turn power saving in standby off.

I received this solution from Humax and suggested they add the detail to their handbook.

Problem: I have tried to set up my new Humax HDR- 1800T 320GB freeview recorder. All connectiobs made ok, but it then tells to be in PVR mode on the remote control, but there's no PVR mode on the remote control, there's a MUTE button instead where the PVR sholud be. Crazy!!!.

Solution 1: The remote control for the 1800t doesn't have a PVR button. This is only on the remote for the 2000T. I got confused until I re-read the instruction which show separate remotes for each model.

- "or your box could have (unluckily!) frozen or crashed prior to the start of the programme."

My machine (from purchase) has consistently frozen and not recorded programmes I have set it to record. Humax have made two suggestions (re-setting to default and switching "Power Down" to "off". Neither made the slightest difference. According to your response there may well be a problem with the hard disk. Wonder how long it will take to convince Humax of this and get a replacement?
Helpful: 0/0     Do you think this comment was helpful?

Solution 1: Recordings fail for a number of reasons. If you schedule the recording and it records - but records the wrong thing - the box might be tuned to two different regions. Reset the channels and manually tune them if you suspect this to be the case.
If the unit is on a series record but has missed the programme, check the programme guide to see if future episodes are being recorded. It may have identified the programme as a different series for some reason, so set a series link on any future episodes that are not being recorded.

Other failed recordings can show a problem with the unit. One or two failed recordings do not necessarily mean that your unit has a fault - it could be due to a power cut or your box could have (unluckily!) frozen or crashed prior to the start of the programme.

However, if there are numerous failed recordings and it continues to occur even though you can watch TV OK, it sounds like a problem with the hard disk and this will need to be either repaired or replaced.

Problem: The unit has just frozen up. It keeps freezing and then shutting itself down.

There are 0 comments on this problem.

Solution 1: It can be extremely frustrating when this happens. Most of the time, there isn't much you can do other than turn it off and then on again, at the mains if the power button isn't responding.

However, there are a few things you can check to help prevent it in the future. Number one is check how hot it is. Freezing can happen when the unit isn't properly ventilated or is in a hot place. Make sure all the vents are uncovered and there is nothing on top of it.
You might also want to check for system updates.
Finally, you might consider turning the unit off and then on again regularly to reboot it. Freezing often occurs when it has been running for a long time, so once a week or so you could try to reboot it by switching it off and on. If you don't want to do this yourself, you might consider buying a timer switch to do this for you at a time you know you won't be using the machine, e.g. 4AM.
