Problem: My wife needs subtitles. when we pause recorded programmes for a moment or two we often find subtitles are out of sync. which obviously is very annoying for her. Could this be a fault of the broadcasters or the recorder itself. any advice appreciated. Billyboy

Problem: When my Humax is in Standby mode, I cannot get any TV channels. All connections are correct yet I can only get a TV picture when my Humax is left on. Is it safe to leave it on for hours at a time?

Solution 1:
In order to watch TV through the Humax, Turn off this setting. Menu settings Navigate to system Select Power management Turn power saving in standby off.
I received this solution from Humax and suggested they add the detail to their handbook.
- This worked for me thanks . Why turn off the modulated as default. Ex Tv repair Man. This was a common issue many years ago with a Philips vcr we encounted. Cheers R.

Problem: I have tried to set up my new Humax HDR- 1800T 320GB freeview recorder. All connectiobs made ok, but it then tells to be in PVR mode on the remote control, but there's no PVR mode on the remote control, there's a MUTE button instead where the PVR sholud be. Crazy!!!.

Solution 1:
The remote control for the 1800t doesn't have a PVR button. This is only on the remote for the 2000T. I got confused until I re-read the instruction which show separate remotes for each model. 0 out of 0 people found this solution helpful.

- "or your box could have (unluckily!) frozen or crashed prior to the start of the programme."
My machine (from purchase) has consistently frozen and not recorded programmes I have set it to record. Humax have made two suggestions (re-setting to default and switching "Power Down" to "off". Neither made the slightest difference. According to your response there may well be a problem with the hard disk. Wonder how long it will take to convince Humax of this and get a replacement?

Solution 1:
Recordings fail for a number of reasons. If you schedule the recording and it records - but records the wrong thing - the box might be tuned to two different regions. Reset the channels and manually tune them if you suspect this to be the case. If the unit is on a series record but has missed the programme, check the programme guide to see if future episodes are being recorded. It may have identified the programme as a different series for some reason, so set a series link on any future episodes that are not being recorded.
Other failed recordings can show a problem with the unit. One or two failed recordings do not necessarily mean that your unit has a fault - it could be due to a power cut or your box could have (unluckily!) frozen or crashed prior to the start of the programme.
However, if there are numerous failed recordings and it continues to occur even though you can watch TV OK, it sounds like a problem with the hard disk and this will need to be either repaired or replaced. 0 out of 0 people found this solution helpful.
Problem: The unit has just frozen up. It keeps freezing and then shutting itself down.

Solution 1:
It can be extremely frustrating when this happens. Most of the time, there isn't much you can do other than turn it off and then on again, at the mains if the power button isn't responding.
However, there are a few things you can check to help prevent it in the future. Number one is check how hot it is. Freezing can happen when the unit isn't properly ventilated or is in a hot place. Make sure all the vents are uncovered and there is nothing on top of it. You might also want to check for system updates. Finally, you might consider turning the unit off and then on again regularly to reboot it. Freezing often occurs when it has been running for a long time, so once a week or so you could try to reboot it by switching it off and on. If you don't want to do this yourself, you might consider buying a timer switch to do this for you at a time you know you won't be using the machine, e.g. 4AM. 0 out of 1 person found this solution helpful.

Problem: My Mum's having a problem with this Humax PVR. The sound keeps going off, she thinks its when its recording. If she switches the box off for a while the sound will come back when its re-started. I have checked all cables are secure.
Problem: Watching the tv through the Humax and suddenly get a message about no signal, this has happened a few times, I have now taken the aerial out of the box and put it directly into the tv, no problem, this is a brand new Humax 1800T and new Sony tv, whats happening, is this a fault with the Humax, it certainly looks like it. Anybody know how to fix this?
Problem: I received my new Humax HDR 1800T last week. It works fine except that on the Installtion Menu there is no Antenna Power listed. Not that I need it at the moment but in case our communial aerial has problems it is useful to have the 5 volt power for my standy-by active indoor aerial.
Problem: Inermittent short sound breaks, in both live TV and Radio mode. In radio mode, on-screen programme information disappears and is replaced by a digital clock.
Problem: I cannot tune a full set of HD channels on my 1800t that my television has no problem finding. Each time I re-tune I get a different selection. No problem with SD channels. Also there are gaps in the EPG making it difficult to programm recordings although series recordings still appear in the schedule when I press yellow button below the EPG. I have tried a factory reset to no avail. Any suggestions welcome. Rob Stickland.
Problem: The picture started blocking and failing on recordings made. This problem became more frequent but now it has failed altogether. The screen now states there is a no signal but I have tried another aerial cable, another HDMI cable and the TV works perfectly when not playing through the Humax. Thanks
Problem: Although the manual tells me I can watch one channel while recording another, I find that while the machine is recording something (i.e. is in 'standby mode', red light on front) it can't be switched on (blue light on front) for me to be able to watch anything at all!
